My husband Tom grew up on this farm - and spent many hours picking "Silver Queen " sweetcorn, weeding the melon patch and fishing the creeks. His love for this little corner of Pennsylvania runs deep. I grew up in Europe, and did not discover my love for agriculture till college days - when I started working for the PSU Entomolgy Department. I got to drive my first tractor at their Research Farm, and spent many hot summers out in the field collecting insect data.
We were able to purchase the family farm in 2000, and operated a small CSA for 10 years - raising veggies and flowers for our members as well as a weekly farmers market - and working off the farm. We've since discontinued the CSA - and every year my passion for flowers claims more ground in the garden. Our hightunnel is one of my favorite spots - a quiet haven that is sweetly scented, lush with foliage and a treat for the eyes with floral beauty. Hummingbirds frequently keep my company. Pastured Poultry, a few pigs and some grass-fed beef add to the diversification of our farm.
For the sake of our family - and for yours - we're committed to using organic practices, and our crops have been certified organic with Pennsylvania Certified Organic since 2000. Currently our fresh flowers and speciality produce can be found at the North Atherton Farmers Market in State College, and our prized flowers are also available for a limited number of local weddings & events. We'll also be offering bouquets and micrograms through as well as Friends & Farmers Co-Op. Check it out! We're also proud lifetime members of the Pennsylvania Association of Sustainable Agriculture.
